I spent the whole weekend what project I would start to share this week .... nothing really grabbed me, heaps of ideas floating around, but nothing really rocking my world till this afternoon.
I have a huge pile of old index cards I grabbed at the op-shop .... probably 200 of so. So the idea came to mind, that perhaps a little bit or arty goodness each day on one of the cards would be good. The would serve as my little canvas. SO I pulled out a few, and then desided to turn it into a thankful journal. Seven days of being thankful.
I like the sound of that, we all need to be reminded at times how truely blessed we are.
So here it is in pictures.
The first step was buying some super cheap acrylics..... I usually like high quality richly pigmented ones.... but I saw these for $2.50 in spotlight, loved the colours and thought I'd have a play. Honestly, they are crappy :) not much pigment, and I would imagine having to give things 100 coats for good coverage...... but for dripping and layering, they are ok.
I gave the index card a squirt of paint and smooshed the paint with an old credit card.
Added some text squares, right into the paint. I didn't bother with adhesive.
and them my fave colour, warm white. I love this colour sooo much I bought TWO new tubes today :) Again it got the credit card application, with a swipe down the card.
Nothing is ever complete without a nice big drippy mess of teal paint. It just makes me happy.
And I didn't want the red to feel sad, so that got added too.
A brand spanking new stamp which I picked up from my local scrapbook store pages2scrap so love it!!! added in beautiful very black ink.
I added a fabric heart. I just painted a fabric scrap with modge podge. Once dry it is hard so you can cut it into shape :)
I then added my thankful thought, today I just felt thankful to have my own home. Yep it's too small for us, and we probably need to buy a bigger one, but it's comfortable and warm and we are blessed to have it.
I wrote my thought on some art paper, swiped it over with watercolour paint, then adhered it to the page.
All done!!!
What are you thankful for today???
