Remember when you were a kid and your school holidays were spent riding your bike around your local streets, dropping into friends homes, making up your own games outside, burying treasure in the backyard, kicking a soccer ball, and as long as you were home by whatever time your Mum designated then all was good with the world???
Holidays were full of fun, inexpensive, creative fun.
That's the kind of holidays I want for my kids.
Times have changed and I can't let my 8 year old ride off on her bike, or go to the park on her own As much as I wish I could tell my kids to go and have fun and I will see you at dinner.... it's not really a safe or smart thing to do.
With that in mind,I thought it might be fun to bring a new feature to the blog called "old school" to highlight some fun, easy, safe activities the kids can do these holidays.
What better way to start with some chalk drawing on the driveway?? Livinia initiated this on her own, with no coaxing from me. She found a bucket of chalk and wandered out to draw. I really like the thick chalk for using on concrete, it doesn't break into little pieces and gives a bold vibrant result. PLUS it's super cheap in places like the Reject Store.
We now have plenty of decoration on our driveway.... as well some pretty funny writing :) I love that Liv has such a sure sense of herself!!
Wonder what we will get up to tomorrow??
